How to Escape into the Science Fiction World Battletech, PART 1

Just what is Battletech? It’s an action packed science fiction universe with plenty going for it. The Battletech franchise has spawned everything from toys, games like Mechwarrior, and even TV shows. However, the best part of this franchise—which is owned by Wiz Kids, formerly by FASA—is the novels you read. These stories are science fiction realism with enough action for a feature film. You can find Battletech novels at countless retail chains, like Barnes & Noble and Amazon. This guide will explain what you need to know about the Battletech universe, and how you can escape to it.

Beginning with the Out of Print Novels

First off, in order to escape you need to find some of the out of print Battletech novels. These will give you a crash course. The first major series was called “Blood of Kerensky,” which was written by renowned sci-fi author Michael A. Stackpole. These won’t even be very expensive in most cases, and some used bookstores will have copies. This is a good beginning, but you may want to read up the guides at the same time.

Using the Guides

Battletech is a board game much like Warhammer, where guides come into play. You don’t have to play the game in order to escape into the world of Battleetech. However, reading the guides will provide you pictures of the various mechs used and who uses them.
