Book Review sites

I will post my reviews of The Brooklyn Follies and "Gods and Generals" early next week. This time, I want to talk about good book review sites. I am assuming you know of many of the more well known places to get reviews for free, like amazon, but there are plenty of others that i frequent or, sometimes, publish on.

CompulsiveReader.com was one i found through an article in The Writer's market book. The site is simple, but pleasing to the eye. Maggie Ball runs it and publishes new book reviews every week.

Curledup.com has a wide variety of book reviews published, from fiction to non-fiction. They get a lot of speculative fiction books sent to them, so, if that's your interest, this is a good place to start.

Yetanotherbookreview.com. This site focuses on spec-fic. There are a lot of reviews, but most are from older books. I just submitted some book reviews here.

That's just a couple to get you started. All of these sites are perfect for any fan of literature, it just depends on what your main interests are. None of these sites require you to register or are covered with ads.

I will post my review of Auster's The Brooklyn Follies next. It is available at bookstores and, while not Auster's best, is his best in several years.

A Reader's Eye: Intro

I am going to write this blog in conjunction with my writing blog. This one is for serious readers, who want to know the best of the best. I read quite a bit, so there will be little need for filler here; it will all be frank, and short, critiques of some popular fiction and fiction no one has heard of, non-fiction you may have seen and the ones that went to the BN warehouse and never returned.
I will also write the occasional essay on a subject that I hope readers will find endearing. Later, i will review movies. A reader's eye should never focus on just one thing, there is no fun in that, so I will try to change things up with movie and comic reviews, just for fun.
Hopefully you will find some new authors to get attached to, to collect for the fun of it, to do your own research on. That is my goal.
Coming up soon will be a reviews of Paul Auster's The Brooklyn Follies and the movie based on Jeff Shaara's book, "Gods and Generals". These tales should suit anyone with a reader's eye.
